Gender and Masculinities
Together for a Gender Free Society
EKTA believes that empowerment of women and sensitization of men is essential to create an enabling environment for a gender just society. Therefore EKTA while adopting a gender and development approach works with both women and men as an essential strategy to question the idea and practice of “automatic” male power and privilege, along with “female inferiority”, The training programmes, debates and discussions at various levels helps participants understand the role of socialization process in the making of the hierarchical division of feminine or masculine. Masculinity does not exist in isolation from femininity.
It is also part the South Asian Network to Address Masculinities (SANAM) which believes that the toxicity of masculinities needs to be challenged if we are to dream of a violence free world.
