A change in Malathi’s life

Malathi (name changed to protect identity) works as a teacher for the past 15 years in one of the Corporation Schools in Madurai. She is married and has two children.

Before marriage she wanted to marry a driver but later she realized that he was a married man. She went through a period of depression during which she refrained even from relating to her family members. Her family was very upset over Suganthi’s depression.  They supported and consoled her and helped her to marry a Teacher.

Her family life was smooth for a few months. Malathi began to receive anonymous calls and posts carrying CDs with obscene pictures. She was perturbed.

Malathi came to EKTA for counselling. She wanted to put an end to this harassment but was not aware of the procedure to be followed. We helped her to file a complaint in the nearby police station giving all the evidences. She was also given an assurance that this complaint will not affect her government job. The culprit was brought in to the police station for warning. He apologized and promised not to trouble her again. Throughout the process the husband was very supportive.
